I printed out all the maps and directions and descriptions and warnings.
And I'm still a bit concerned about getting lost. Not that I won't eventually find my way, but that the sweeper might catch me if I go off course. I'm already slow. Toss in getting lost for a while and the hour and a half head start we have may evaporate.
I really don't want to get pulled. So I'm studying the maps and stuff. Hoping for the best. I'm assuming the trail will be blazed and maybe signed.
I'm not assuming that it will be well marked for the race. The warnings were pretty clear about that.
"Folks, we run on this trail frequently without course markers to direct our way. Sure, we occasionally get turned around but only for a little while. We will mark major intersections that might cause confusion. As a whole, this course will have very few markings. If you are prone to getting lost, do NOT show up for this event."
I'm showing up anyway.
Today I ran 6+ miles at lunch. Whatever I did yesterday at the solo boot camp was causing some soreness. Sitting here tonight and I'm still sore. I guess even though Beth wussed out, I still worked something out pretty good on my own.
And the run was good. Just a slow one trying to ease up to Saturday.
More good news as the date for SweetH2O 50K was announced for April 3, 2010. I was worried the race might be cancelled after the massive flooding in the park. But not only is it on, but it's almost two months earlier than last year's hot May 30th date. So keep watching for the registration announcement. I'm thinking this one might fill up quick.

Just remember, if the running starts getting easy for more than 5 minutes, you are probably going the wrong way. You are going to have a great time on the CT, hope you see some interesting wildlife.
You're going to do great. Just keep your head up and carry a map!
Good luck tomorrow David. That is one race I don't think I have the guts to try. Wouldn't make the cutoffs in time for one thing.
